Emily Willis Awarded $3 Million Settlement in Rehab Lawsuit

Published on

Former adult star Emily Willis has been awarded a $3 million settlement after a Los Angeles judge approved an agreement related to the catastrophic injuries she suffered while staying at the Summit Malibu rehabilitation facility. The settlement follows a lawsuit filed by her family, who alleged the rehab center failed to properly monitor her deteriorating condition before she went into cardiac arrest in February 2024.

Willis, whose legal name is Litzy Lara Banuelos, suffered severe oxygen deprivation after the cardiac arrest, resulting in permanent brain damage. According to updates shared by her attorney, she remains bedridden and is only able to communicate through limited eye movements and occasional grunts. The court approved the settlement because Willis is unable to manage her own affairs.

Although the settlement provides financial support for her long-term care, the legal case highlighted the devastating impact of the incident. Her family’s lawsuit alleged negligence by Summit Malibu, while the facility has denied wrongdoing, arguing that Willis repeatedly declined recommended medical treatment and that staff could not legally force her to seek hospital care.
